Bournemouth fans comments before match as less than 1,000 make the trip to Newcastle

Bournemouth Fans

There may not be many Bournemouth fans travelling to Tyneside but those who are making the trip appear intent on making the most of it.

Whilst Wolves sold their full allocation of 3,235 for the last game at St James Park, less than a thousand Bournemouth fans have bought tickets.

Indeed. sales to Newcastle fans have also been minimal due to the ongoing situation with Mike Ashley.

It not helping that the NUFC owner is making a personal profit of millions from the land once owned by the club opposite the Gallowgate, which has now got the go ahead to be developed and will spoil the city skyline and views of St James Park, as well as end any realistic hopes of expanding the stadium in the future.

Today’s crowd appears set to challenge the Brighton one as lowest of the season so far in the Premier League at St James Park.

It appears a good proportion of the hundreds of Bournemouth fans making the trip will unsurprisingly be making a weekend of it, here’s hoping  the enjoy our city a lot more than the match.

Their £25m midfielder Jefferson Lerma has been very impressive this season but with already getting a fifth yellow card last weekend as Bournemouth beat Man Utd, he is suspended today, with plenty of Bournemouth fans believing he will be a big miss.

Newcastle have very rarely controlled the middle of the pitch this season, so hopefully Lerma’s suspension can help in that respect today.

Bournemouth fans comment via their Up The Cherries message board:

‘Travelling up on Thursday. Can’t wait!’

‘I’ll be packing the mountaineering gear for the climb up the away end! Work up a thirst for a pint at the top.’

‘I know it’s getting nearer to Xmas but it’s a bit disappointing that our away support will be less than a thousand today.’

‘I wonder if Newcastle will have a poppy on their shirt this week?

4 clubs played last week without one.’

‘Big chance to build on last week and get some proper momentum, but we’ve not really been able to get a run going yet this season. Newcastle will be confident after last week’s win.

Jeff(erson Lerma) will be a big loss and I’m not sure we can cope with only 2 in the middle without him.’

‘Referee is Martin Atkinson…’

‘The worst referee in the league!!’

‘By far the worst referee in the league.

Absolutely nailed on to make at least one clanger during a game.

After last week’s debacles involving him he shouldve been put on long term gardening leave. His decisions cost clubs millions of pounds but the PGMOL or the FA either don’t care, have no answer or think he’s a top referee.

The top 6 usually benefit from his wayward decisions, as neither us or Newcastle are top 6 then God only knows which way his bias will go this weekend.’

‘40 odd thousand or more Geordies shouting at him….I wouldn’t be overly confident of him doing us any favours!’

‘Make no mistake we will miss Lerma big time.’

‘With Sean Longstaff out of their side at West Ham that gave the inconsistent Jonjo Shelvey his chance and he had a good game.

Maybe a 100% fit Dan Gosling might be a better player against Shelvey?’

‘Newcastle with 3 goals at home all season, us going in without conceding in three games. 0-2 to the Cherries please….’

‘Strange thing is they could have scored 10 against West Ham last week!!’

‘Updated team news. Eddie Howe has revealed that Dan Gosling has trained well ahead of the weekend’s trip to Newcastle.’

‘Heading to the game from bonnie Scotland tomorrow. Me and the good lady are really looking forward to the trip to Newcastle. 3 points would make the weekend even better.’

‘A win at St James for me would be a far more impressive result than the Manu game ,only conceded three goals at home …time to get your scoring boots on Callum.’

‘Hope all the travelling Cherries get safely across the flood plains and reach the frozen North in good spirits. Have fun, drink responsibly…’

‘Far be it from me to point out outrageous stereotyping…. but the weather’s better in Newcastle than Bournemouth!’

‘When I woke up in Newcastle this morning, with a hangover, I was delighted to see it was foggy.’
