Warriors set to pounce on Raiders youngster
THE Warriors are close to signing Canberra back-rower Jack Murchie following the serious knee injury suffered by Bunty Afoa last week.
Afoa tore his ACL at training and will miss most of the season - and the Warriors believe his absence leaves them light on forwards.
Canberra rate the 22-year-old Murchie, a product of Bateman's Bay on the NSW south coast, but are likely to release him nonetheless.
"He is a good kid but we have a lot of experienced forwards aherad of him," a Raiders source said.
"The way is blocked for him here. If the Warriors give him a long-term deal, we will probably let him take it."
The Warriors have also stopped shopping prop Sam Lisone around as they strive to make up for Afoa's extended absence.
